The Občanská Plovárna is a listed building in the Classicist style on the Vltava embankment between Malá Strana and Čechův most. On the site of the swimming pool was originally a garden, used in 17th and 18th centuries by the Jesuit order. In 1809, the Military Swimming Pool was established here, probably the oldest similar facility in throughout Austria-Hungary. Originally, it served all citizens together, but due to disputes, the people of Prague with close neighborhood built in 1840 the Občanská Plovárna (Public Swimming Pool), which became the first river river spa in Prague.
Franz Kafka and his father, who lived not far from here, also went swimming here as a little boy.
In Občanská Plovárna you will definitely enjoy your social evening!
